That is what President Bush is essentially doing.
From AP…
” President Bush accused the Democratic-led Congress of wasting taxpayers’ time picking fights with the White House instead of resolving disputes over money for U.S. troops and the firings of the U.S. attorneys.
In his weekly radio address Saturday, Bush called on Democratic leaders in Congress to move beyond political discord and take bipartisan action on both issues that have driven a wedge between the Bush administration and Capitol Hill.”
Hmm…now…let me think about this…. I’m no rocket scientist, but could it be that the democrats are so disgusted with the ”choices” that this administration has made that they have no other alternative than to rely on partisan politics? Something tells me that’s it.
Above picture is proof that my friends and family love me…I ended my day yesterday with libations and laughing.
I ( Caroline) had some rather colorful questions for Mr. DeLay, but..alas I was not put through to him. I did..listen intentlyto most questions put through to him and his responses were your typical southern politician answers. “Christ came into my life 22 year ago..it’s in my book…and since then I’ve been a better man” This general response was in regards to questions ranging from money laundering to skirt chasing. DeLay’s righteous portrayal of himself was humorous and disturbing at once. If one looks at DeLay’s born again chronology…..Abramoff came into his life..ironically well after he found Jesus. Hmmm…now that is a thinker.

Has been pretty crumby due to unforeseen car problems. I did, however..order some Chinese delivery, bust out the Dyson on my carpets, watch some good movies while I did housework and spend quality time with the Lola beast. My House is lookin’ good..nothing makes you do housework like cabin fever.
I’ve been listening to Chris Baker and laughing to my lefty self. Someone that I respect tremendously listens to KTRH daily. Where is DeLay?
I did hear that SMU was dedicating a library for our current president, however I just discovered some interesting and humorous facts. For one..this library will be the most costly of all university libraries dedicated to former presidents. The real kicker here is…a large part of it will be dedicated only for Bush’s policies while president. Oh my my…aye chihuahua…while he’s at it Bush should dedicate parts of the library with other horrible parts of his life. Seriously..SMU should have a dictionary complete with Bushisms like ”misunderestimated” and phrases like “I’m the decider” and “suiciders”.

The Attorney General is loosing support from the Republicans over his truthiness.
From AP.
“Republican support for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales eroded Sunday as three key senators sharply questioned his truthfulness and a Democrat joined the list of lawmakers who want him to resign over the firing of eight federal prosecutors.
‘We have to have an attorney general who is candid and truthful. And if we find out he’s not been candid and truthful, that’s a very compelling reason for him not to stay on,” said Sen. Arlen Specter the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which oversees the Justice Department.
Specter, R-Pa., said he would wait until Gonzales’ scheduled April 17 testimony to the committee on the dismissals before deciding whether he could continue to support the attorney general. He called it a “make or break” appearance.
To Sen. Chuck Hagel R-Neb., Gonzales “does have a credibility problem. … We govern with one currency, and that’s trust. And that trust is all important. And when you lose or debase that currency, then you can’t govern. And I think he’s going to have some difficulties.”
Hagel cited changing stories from the Justice Department about the circumstances for firing the eight U.S. attorneys. “I don’t know if he got bad advice or if he was not involved in the day-to-day management. I don’t know what the problem is, but he’s got a problem. You cannot have the nation’s chief law enforcement officer with a cloud hanging over his credibility,” Hagel said.

The past 24 hours of my life have been marred with a chihuahua emergency that left me no time for politics. Everything is better now and Lola is sitting in my lap as I write this.
OK…Dan Patrick clearly has adopted strange practices in regards to gynecological issues and his own urinary issues..I’m referring to his vasectomy that was perfomed on the air. Those who know me..know that I do not discuss issues of gays in the military, school vouchers, abortions and to a certain extent the Israeli Palestinian conflict. I will say this…I think it’s insulting to offer a cash “reward” to those who choose not to abort.
Now, on DeLay…I knew he would be slithering his way back in eventually, but not this soon. DeLay is finding serious opposition within his own party. Four board members of the American Conservative Union, one of the most established and respected institutions within the Conservative arena…resigned because of DeLay’s presence on the board. Hopefully, DeLay’s trial will begin sooner than later and he will finally be convicted of money laundering.
Teri..you look hella tough in that picture….I would think twice about taking your seat in a bar!
Apparently, the Satan of Sugarland will be on the Chris Baker show next Tuesday from 3:00-6:00… Here’s the kicker- only those who completely hate and oppose that trash can call in. You are free to let Delay have it. I expect Caro to go at him with all her might. Three way calling, Caro???

Patrick’s adoption incentive is baby selling, some say
Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Austin Bureau
AUSTIN — Houston state Sen. Dan Patrick wants the state to pay $500 to women who give their babies up for adoption instead of aborting them, an idea some say borders on baby selling.
“We want that lady to have an incentive that makes her stop and think about having an abortion and that gives her a reason to put her baby up for adoption,” said Patrick, a radio broadcaster who champions conservative causes such as abortion and tightening the border.
The Republican lawmaker’s Senate Bill 1567 was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee on Wednesday. No committee hearing has been scheduled for the bill, which has yet to draw any co-sponsors.
“My goal is to save as many babies as we possibly can,” said Patrick, who also has a bill to trigger an abortion ban in Texas should the U.S. Supreme Court ever reverse its landmark 1973 decision, Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion.
Critics say his bill doesn’t recognize the complex issues involved in a woman’s decision to place her baby for adoption and comes dangerously close to baby selling.
One anti-abortion group — while supporting the goal of encouraging adoption over abortion — expressed caution.
“We just need to make sure there isn’t even the perception of baby buying going on,” said Joe Pojman, executive director of Texas Alliance for Life.
An organization that supports a woman’s right to choose said Patrick’s bill is terrible.
“It’s the stuff nightmares are made of,” said Fran Hagerty of the Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas. “This is insulting to women and also insulting to all the great charitable organizations out there that do wonderful work finding adoptive parents and taking care of the birth mother.”
It is a crime in Texas to offer to give a thing of value to another for acquiring a child for purposes of adoption. Exceptions are made for necessary pregnancy-related expense that benefit the mother.
Patrick said the payments would not be akin to baby selling.
“We’re just giving someone an incentive to put your baby up for adoption,” he said. “Then the baby goes through the normal adoptive process. No one is coming in here and buying a baby.”
Another group that advocates reproductive freedom said the emphasis should be on preventing unplanned pregnancies by providing women with birth-control options.
“If Sen. Dan Patrick wants to improve women’s health care options, then he should support the Prevention First Act, which includes common sense ways to reduce the need for abortion,” said Carol Drennan, interim executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, in a prepared statement.
The head of a national adoption-policy group said a recent study on birth mothers who gave up their children found that many experienced lifelong guilt over their decision.
Adam Pertman, executive director of the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, said good adoption practice means presenting all options on a level playing field.
“You let women respectfully make the best decision they can at an excruciatingly difficult time. Introducing money into the mix can be coercive,” Pertman said.
If the bill reduced the 77,374 abortions performed in Texas in 2005 by 5 percent, more than 3,000 babies’ lives would be saved, Patrick said.
No freaking way.
